Walking Tours - Frequently Asked QuestionsQ:What if I cannot participate at the times the tours are scheduled? Can I get a private tour? A: Certainly, we can try to make a special arrangement for you, depending on the size of your group. Please call 1-540-325-9529 or 1-540-740-3747 or and leave your name, contact information, the number in your party, and the dates you wish to tour. We will then contact our guides and see if they are available for your desired dates and times. Q: May I book a group tour ? A: We are happy to make group tour arrangements for educational groups, seniors, corporate groups or bus tours. If your group has 10 or more people, the price is $5 per person. Q: May I cancel my reservation? A: Yes, but please give us as much advance notice as you possible can. We request a minimum of 2 hours notice before your scheduled tour departs. This allows us time to contact the guide as to inform them of a change in the number of people taking a tour. Q: Can a tour be cancelled at any time? Will I be given advance notice? A: New Market Walking Tours reserves the right to cancel a tour at any time for any reason. Q: Is this tour wheechair acessible? A: If you are a wheelchair visitor, please contact the New Market Walking Tour Company in advance at 1-540-325-9529 or 1-540-740-3747 , so that we may re-route the tour to conduct your tour on the smoothest route possible. Q: Should we tip our guides? A: Our guides are committed to providing you with a high quality educational walking tour. If you feel your guide has given you an exceptional tour, feel free to supply any gratuity you wish. Conversely, if you are displeased with your tour, please notify the Apple Blossom Inn and a representative will contact you as soon as possible to find out how we can improve our tours. Q: How far am I walking? Each tour covers about 8-10 blocks of distance. Tour guides stop in front of historical homes and relate information about the house and the people who dwelled within it. This is not an exercise-oriented walking tour. Pace of the tour may be adjusted to guest’s needs. Q: Is there any place to sit? Occasionally, the tour will enter churches, taverns, or retail shops where you may sit for a spell. Please alert your guide of your need to sit. Q: Is it possible to take an hour tour? I don’t have time for the complete tour. Although we recommend the complete tour (1 and ½ hours ) a shorter tour can be provided. Please request the shorter tour at the time of your booking so that the appropriate tour guide may be booked. Q: Where shall I park? Tours depart from the Apple Blossom Inn at 9317 N. Congress St. Free street parking is available in front of the inn. If you have several vehicles, try parking at the municipal parking lot on Congress, St. next to the New Market Library. Q: It’s just two of us- can we still take the tour? Yes, we offer the tour to individuals, couples, and groups.
